Courses offered in the Research Data Management course
Research data has a lifecycle encompassing its generation, storage, and ultimate reuse. In FFundamentals of research data management in the era of open science, you will learn about the services designed to support researchers before, during, and after their projects, as well as the ongoing support available, all of which aligns with the research data lifecycle.
You will receive a completion badge for this course if you earn a total score of 70 points or higher on the comprehension tests for all chapters.
This course is recommended for those who use the research data management platform GakuNin RDM in their laboratories and want to be able to perform basic operations tailored to their own research activities.
The course consists of four sections, each designed around a laboratory’s annual activities. Each section has a video and a quiz.
Please watch the videos to learn and answer the quiz after learning.
A “pass” will be awarded for 80% or more correct answers to the quiz, and a digital badge for each section will be given.
Those who watch the videos and pass the quizzes of each section will receive a digital badge certifying completion of the course. We encourage you to earn all badges.

Training materials for research data management support staff. Designed to help research support staff, including university librarians, URAs, and technical staff, learn how to design and implement research data management services that align with researchers’ processes.
From the perspective of a research supporter, this course material is designed for researchers affiliated with universities, research institutions, and other organizations. The course is divided into 12 thematic sections for different research data management scenarios, and is intended for researchers themselves to gain the necessary knowledge through this material.
Based on “Research Data Management for Researchers” published in 2020 by the Research Data Working Group of the Japan Consortium for Open Access Repository (JPCOAR), this training material was restructured and expanded by members of 研究データマネジメント部会 of 大学ICT推進協議会(AXIES) for use by information infrastructure staff.
